Function:

The Guardianship and Conservatorship Advisory Committee monitors the Guardianship and Conservatorship Act and related areas and prepares and updates forms used under the act. The Committee also monitors the codes for Care and Treatment of Mentally Ill Persons and Care and Treatment of Persons with an Alcohol or Substance Abuse Problem and prepares and updates forms used under these civil commitment codes.

Assignment:

The Committee will prepare the materials for a basic instructional program concerning the duties and responsibilities of a guardian or conservator, prior to issuance of letters of guardianship or conservatorship, as required by 2008 HB 2644. The Committe will distribute the materials to all district courts before January 1, 2009. In addition, the Committee will study the Uniform Adult Guardianship and Protection Proceedings Jurisdiction Act.
